“Heart to Heart Marketing” & Social Media Marketing

Today I received my copy of “The Heart of Marketing” by Judith Sherven and Jim Sniechowski. While flipping through the book I found something that jumped off the page and I could not put it down until I finished it 3 hours later!

It was the part where Judith explained about how offended she was by traditional marketing. I was hooked because that is exactly what I often felt when faced with the “dreaded” salesman.

Judith and Jim hit the nail on the head when they described how badly many people feel when they are forced to use traditional marketing techniques in order to sell their products or services. They have been told by traditional marketers there is no other way. Selling using hype, inflated promises, and imagined scarcity,  is the norm online but it  just seems wrong to many people including myself.

In my business I teach coaches, speakers, consultants and other solo-entrepreneurs how to use Social Media to develop relationships with people in their target market. The goal is for those people to ultimately become clients but the relationship must come first. Then, hopefully, after the sale the relationship continues.

Social Media is the perfect venue for Heart to Heart marketing because it is built on building relationships. I definitely recommend this book to all my prospects and clients because it clearly explains how it is possible to market yourself without compromising your ideals or convictions. It explains why the sale can be and should be a win win situation for both parties.

I want to thank both Judith and Jim for realizing the need in the marketplace for this book and then for having the courage to step out of their own comfort zones and to bring the book to print.
