I am thrilled I decided to sign up for this incredible virtual seminar, Social Media Success Summit 09. I guess I am in good company too because here is a partial list of big name companies who are also attending, Geico, Hilton, Coca Cola, Prudential, Allstate and Honda. Social media is truly changing how we do business and it’s exciting to be part of the first wave.

Week one began with keynote address by Gary Vaynerchuk, @garyvee, of Wine Library TV. When asked what is the one thing we could do to insure success using social media he said, “Give a crap”. I love that because it says it all about why social media is changing the world!

He also said that social media is the biggest change in how we do business since the printing press. That is a pretty powerful statement. According to him the cost of success is not measured in dollars and cents anymore but in sweat equity. Social Media truly levels the playing field. He was very inspirational.

Mari Smith, @marismith, the Pied Piper of Facebook followed with a content filled presentation. Thank goodness we get the recordings and power point presentations because there was so much information I could not take notes fast enough. We also got tons of hints on how to maximize our use of LinkedIn by Jason Alba @jasonalba.

Next week is Denise Wakeman, @denisewakeman, of the Blog Squad, Michael Stelzner @Mike_Stelzner, of White Papers and Darrin Rowse @problogger. There is so much to learn about using social media to build your brand and market yourself so I am thrilled about ho generous these gurus are with what they know. Their stated goal is to empower us to use tools like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to attract high- caliber customers and grow our business! I think they are right on track!
